Combine PDFs in the order you choose

Merge PDF joins two or more PDF files into one document. Arrange the files in the order you want, review the warnings about changes to document features, and download the merged result.

How to merge PDF files

  1. Add your PDFs

Choose two or more PDF files. Each file card shows its page count after the document has been checked.

  2. Set the order

Drag the file cards into place or use their move controls. Pages from the first file appear first, followed by each remaining file in order.

  3. Review document changes

Open the notice when it appears. Acknowledge invalidated digital signatures or a large operation before continuing.

  4. Merge and download

Create the combined PDF, verify its page count and size, then download it.

PDFs can use different page sizes and orientations; each copied page keeps its own dimensions. Merging does not intentionally lower the visual quality of page content.

What is copied into the new PDF?

Visible pages are copied into a newly created document. Form values can remain visible, but form fields are no longer editable. Bookmarks, document outlines, embedded attachments, and accessibility structure are not copied. Existing digital signatures no longer validate because the document has changed.

Protected PDFs that cannot be opened for editing are rejected. The tool does not ask for or remove a PDF password.

Review signed documents before merging. A signature may still look visible in the merged pages, but it will no longer prove that the new file is unchanged. Keep the signed originals when their validation matters.

To break a document into separate files, use Split PDF. If the merged file exceeds the size allowed by the site or app you want to send it to, try Compress PDF after checking the resulting document.

Large document compatibility

Each original PDF can be up to 50 MB. A warning appears before a large batch, and merging is blocked above 200 MB in total or 5,000 pages. File size alone does not predict memory use; a computer may be better suited than a phone to complex documents.

How do I control the page order when merging PDFs?

Arrange the source files before merging. Every page from the first file is followed by every page from the next file in the displayed order.

Can I merge PDFs with different page sizes or orientations?

Yes. Portrait, landscape, and mixed-size pages can share the same output, and each copied page keeps its own dimensions.

Does merging PDFs reduce their quality?

It does not rasterize or intentionally recompress visible pages. The new file can still differ in interactive features such as forms, bookmarks, attachments, accessibility tags, and signatures.

Can I merge password-protected or digitally signed PDFs?

PDFs that are encrypted or restricted from editing cannot be merged here. Signed PDFs can be merged only after acknowledging that their signatures will no longer validate.

Are PDF files uploaded when I merge them?

No. The files are inspected and combined in your browser after the page has loaded.
