Split one PDF into separate files
Choose where to divide a PDF using page previews, then download separate files. A single result downloads as a PDF; multiple results are packaged in a ZIP archive.
Choose a split mode
Choose split points starts with no cuts. Click anywhere on a page card to toggle Split after page N, or enter boundary page numbers and apply them. Every source page appears once, in its original order.
Every page creates one PDF for each page.
Pages per file creates consecutive groups of the size you enter, with a smaller final group when pages remain.
Advanced custom ranges creates one PDF for each comma-separated page or range, such as
1-3, 7, 10-12.
For a ten-page PDF, split points after pages 3 and 7 create files containing pages 1–3, 4–7 and 8–10. You cannot add a split point after the final page. A one-page document has no split points; the other modes can still create a one-page copy.
Custom ranges are produced in the order entered. Overlapping ranges are allowed when you intentionally need a page in more than one output, but an identical range cannot be entered twice.
The active mode’s settings and file count appear above the page grid. Choose Review output to inspect the page ranges in a separate panel without moving the cards. In Every page and Pages per file, cards show the output file and where it ends; change the settings to adjust them. In Advanced custom ranges, each card shows how many output files include that page. These cards do not change the ranges when clicked. The preview button opens a larger preview without changing your choices.
How to split a PDF
Choose the document
Add one PDF and wait for its page count and document changes to be checked.
Choose the output groups
Mark split points in the page grid or enter their page numbers. Apply or discard pending number edits before changing cuts or modes. You can also choose individual pages, fixed-size groups or advanced custom ranges.
Review changes
Choose Review output and check the file count and page ranges. Browse through the group summary if it spans several views. Acknowledge signature loss or a large operation when the page asks you to.
Split and download
Create the outputs, verify the number of files, then download the PDF or ZIP result.
Use the page navigation to reach later pages, or open a larger preview without changing the split points. If previews are unavailable, the numerical controls remain usable. Output PDFs copy the original pages, not the preview images.
Splitting copies visible pages into new documents. Form values can stay visible, but fields become non-editable. Bookmarks, attachments, accessibility structure, and valid digital signatures are not carried into the outputs.
Use Extract PDF Pages when you want selected pages combined into one new PDF. To put separate documents back into one ordered file, use Merge PDF.
Large document compatibility
The source PDF can be up to 50 MB. Very large page counts require confirmation, and generated split files stop at a combined 200 MB to avoid exhausting browser memory. Creating one file per page is usually heavier than creating a few larger groups.
Can I split every page into a separate PDF?
Yes. Choose Every page, and the individual PDFs will be downloaded together in a ZIP archive when there is more than one output.
How do custom PDF page ranges work?
Enter comma-separated pages or inclusive ranges such as 1-3, 7, 10-12.
Each entry becomes a separate PDF in the entered order.
Why did the split result download as a ZIP?
Multiple output PDFs are placed in one ZIP so the browser can download them together. A split that creates only one output downloads as a PDF.
What happens to forms, bookmarks, and signatures after splitting?
Form values may remain visible but fields become non-editable. Bookmarks, attachments, accessibility tags, and valid digital signatures are not preserved in the new files.
Are PDF files uploaded for splitting?
No. The document is inspected, split, and packaged in your browser after the page loads.
